About

I have to admit, I am no technophile.  I started with the blog FaceBucs and it evolved into Jobgenie.  What is my blog all about?  I have a disability as does my wife. She is typically confined to a wheelchair.  I know how hard it can be to get off of SSDI with the limited amount one is allowed to make.  If you make under $640 a month it doesn’t count against getting one booted off of SSDI.  Make more than that for 9 months and your out of support.  One has to make a hell of a lot more that that to be selfsufficient.  But how do we find jobs that will allow us financial freedom?  Most of the time there is nothing available that will pay enough to get by. It’s that simple!  So, what’s a special person to do?

Hopefully, come to my blog and my FaceBook application.  My blog JobGenie will focus on self employment for the handicapped.  The FaceBook app will provide two necessary factions for your success – networking and access to regular employers who are handicapped friendly.  The app will always be in the process of finding viable employers for us, so we will grow as time goes on.

Our app is located at http://www.apps.facebook.com/jobgenie  were we will have great success at providing connections and employment for the handicapped  I hope you find my blog useful and that the facebook application helps you in finding a better future.

Like many people on Social Security Disability Income (SSDI), Doug Atkins faced a problem.  I desperately wanted to get off government support, but how could I do it?

Everyone knows how hard it can be to get out of the rut and off of government support. The SSDI income guidelines would only allow him earn a certain amount each month.  If I earned more I could lose my benefit.  I couldn’t gradually build up my income because I would exceed their guidelines.  Untrained and inexperienced, I faced the bleak life of struggling to survive on SSDI

I knew my predicament was not unique, and I wondered how I could help other disabled people achieve their dream of becoming self-supporting.  However, if you start your own business, you have legitimate deductions and have better potential to break free.

As an occasional writer and solid researcher, so I wondered how I could use those skills to help others.  It wasn’t long before I realized that I could best put my abilities to work by writing a blog for the handicapped.  Enter http://jobgenie.info

Not your ordinary handicapped blog, JobGenie is meant to assist mostly those with a desire to get off of SSDI.  He wanted to raise the bar and write about actual successful businesses suited specifically for the disabled.  Not only that, but knowing finance is an issue with the SSDI crowd, so he would focus on funding as well.

Of course others are welcomed to read.  After all, many people have an entrepreneurial spirit, not just those on SSDI, but his main desire is to help those in similar situations.

To date I have covered starting a daycare business, becoming a successful medical benefits advisor, making an income through genealogy, and other methods.  In the future I plan to post on Jobgenie.info where the entrepreneur can find help, creative financing, successful businesses owned by disabled persons, and to provide a nurturing environment for those dreaming of self-reliance.

Glad to find your blog. I have just begun receiving SSDI after being on Long Term Disability through a private insurance policy for 5 years. I would like to start a bookkeeping business to increase my income but it certainly seems that Social Security makes it difficult.

Thanks for your encouragment and I’m hoping this site will be helpful.
